Smoke Free Campus Policy
In line with its principles of healthy living and a sustainable campus, Sabancı University aims to create a smoke-free, healthy, and safe campus environment for its students, employees, visitors, and all stakeholders.
Accordingly, Sabancı University adopts as policy and undertakes to implement the following principles:
- To reduce the promotion and encouragement of the use of tobacco and tobacco products, as well as electronic cigarettes,
- To prevent campus users who do not use tobacco products from being exposed to second-hand smoke,
- To prohibit the use of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes in all indoor areas of the University, including classrooms, offices, enclosed buildings and facilities, University vehicles, fire escapes, open-air inner courtyards of faculties, and designated smoke-free outdoor areas,
- To maintain the implementation of smoke-free areas around building entrances and exits, doorways, open windows, and ventilation systems,
- To ensure that outdoor areas where tobacco use is permitted are located at least 5 meters away in all directions from building entrances, exits, and their surroundings,
- To protect the right to clean air by limiting smoking areas across the campus,
- To support the reduction of cigarette butts, waste, and environmental pollution caused by tobacco and tobacco products,
- To increase awareness of a smoke-free campus among campus users and promote individual responsibility,
- To ensure that students, academic and administrative staff, subcontractor employees, visitors, and all persons present on campus comply with the rules set out under this policy
